2020: Albanian Psychologists Prohibit Anti-LGBT “Conversion Therapy”

Published on Jun 10, 2021

(24 Dec 2017) LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) supporters cheered as seven competitors took part in a transgender beauty contest competition in a disco bar in the capital, Tirana.
The competition is in its third year.
Albanians' views on LGBT rights are generally conservative so the organizers of the event and the competitors were very cautious.
"There is no doubt that our people haven't got used to this kind of events," said Miss Trans Albania's first runner up, Serafina.
She said the event was "the best proof" that a transgender community exists in Albania, adding she hoped the competion is the first step towards a wider recognition of transgenders' rights by the Albanian population.
